Water for Sale!

Today we visited some of our friend's little stall (selling water). After purchasing water for the discounted price of 50 cents, we went and watched an origami boat race with one participant, and had a "family photo" taken. It was such a cute event, and it brought back memories of the stalls we used to set up years ago, like the one selling lavender ice cubes and lemonade.

Hope you enjoyed these pictures! We had such a fun day!

DIY Magazine Holder

Hello. Today I've done a quick DIY project inspired by vanillacraft. I went shopping this morning and found a roll of brown paper so I thought it would be perfect to do today!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
roll of brown paper
cereal box (I used a value pack because it is wider and will hold more things)
sharpie
ruler
sticky tape
scissors

Step 1: Start by cutting off the flaps from the opening at the top of the box.

Step 2: Now rule a line from the top corner of the box to approximately 7cm from the bottom of the box. It is important not to rule all the way to the bottom corner, as the holder will not balance properly.

Step 3: Cut across this line and up the side so as to remove a triangular piece.

Step 4: Draw a line across the box from the point that you cut to. I originally thought I could draw this small line free hand, but I ended up having to use a ruler.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2-3 on the other side so that you have the basic shape of a magazine holder.

Step 6: Place your box on top of the brown paper and wrap it round like you would a present. This part is a bit fiddly, but I have one tip. Make sure you have strips of sticky tape cut and ready (you can leave them hanging off the side of furniture). This makes it so much easier just to grab and stick the paper down quickly.

Step 7: Finish sticky taping the brown paper down. Make sure that you stick the paper down all the way.

This is the end product. It is really cute to use to hold magazines or even school books. I really love this DIY because I find nice magazine holders really expensive (like seriously? $20?). I've always opted for cheap, plastic ones but I prefer these. You can also decorate them with stamps as well.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Comment if you try the DIY.

P.S. I found this idea through vanillacraft's blog. By posting this I am, in no way, claiming the idea as my own; just sharing it with you. I would recommend checking out her blog if you enjoyed this :)
